The Beis Hamikdash (Holy Temple) was destroyed because of sinas chinam (baseless hatred).
We stopped getting along.
And look what happened to the talmidim (students) of Rabbi Akiva. Thousands of incredible Yidden (Jews) were lost because they didn’t show proper kavod (honor/respect) to one another.
It’s powerful when you think about it. All that Torah (Jewish learning), all that greatness, but without Shalom (peace), it couldn’t last.
Fast forward to today. Klal Yisroel (the Jewish people) is doing unbelievable things. The Torah (Jewish learning), the chesed (kindness), and the achdus (unity) we see every day are truly amazing.
But we still have disagreements. Machlokes (conflict). Family drama. Community tension. It happens. We’re human.
That’s why we started the Pure Shalom Project.
To remind ourselves that Shalom (peace) is not just a nice thing. It’s everything.
This project is not about pretending we’re perfect or forcing peace where it doesn’t belong. It’s about trying. Taking a step. Making an effort.
Sometimes that means reaching out, forgiving, or just softening how we see someone.
Of course, not every situation calls for reconciliation. That’s where we turn to Daas Torah (Torah guidance from qualified rabbinic authorities) for guidance.
But overall, we can all bring more Shalom (peace) into our lives, our homes, and our communities.
That’s what the Pure Shalom Project is about.
Spreading awareness. Inspiring each other. Choosing peace a little more often.
Because if we can bring more Shalom (peace) between Yidden (Jews), maybe we’ll help bring the Geulah (final redemption) a little closer.
